Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don’t wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief. “Yet there are some in the church in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes with evil. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.
Revelation 3:3-6 (NLT)
Make no mistake beloved, this was a warning to you and me and referring to the coming of Christ to judge His Church. Listen to this, “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into.” Read Matthew 24:42-43 (NLT). “For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.” Read Hebrews 2:1. Watch this beloved, staying alert and giving strict attention to the things of God is what the Sardis brethren were being told. Listen to this, life happens, and because it does, the tendency to be slack, hence, Scripture says, “Never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord.” Read Romans 12:11 (J.B.Phillips).
Listen to this, a thief will usually come unannounced, hence, we plan ahead and consult with security organisations about installing safety equipments and alarm systems, including getting insurance against theft; all with a view to safeguarding our families and personal belongings. How much more beloved, we ought to be more watchful for the coming of Christ, hence, the Bible says, “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” Read Proverbs 4:23.
“To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life.” Read Romans 2:7 (NASB). Watch this beloved, eternal life awaits the one who will persevere until the end. Listen to this, “This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.” Read 1 John 2:25 (NASB). The brethren in Sardis whose clothes were not soiled would walk in great joy. Listen to this commentary, “It is well known that white robes were worn on occasions of great joy, and sometimes in triumphal processions.” In other words, the glory of God is at the heart of perseverance.
“For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” Read 2 Corinthian 4:6 (NASB). My Father in heaven, all to Your glory, honor and praise.

Je n’effacerai jamais leurs noms du Livre de Vie, mais j’annoncerai devant mon Père et ses anges qu’ils sont les miens.

Ne vous méprenez pas bien-aimé, c’était un avertissement pour vous et moi et se référant à la venue du Christ pour juger son Église. Ecoutez ceci: “Alors vous aussi, vous devez faire attention! Car vous ne savez pas quel jour votre Seigneur vient. Comprenez ceci : si un propriétaire savait exactement quand un cambrioleur arrivait, il surveillerait et ne permettrait pas que sa maison soit cambriolée. Lire Matthieu 24:42-43 (NLT). “Pour cette raison, nous devons prêter beaucoup plus d’attention à ce que nous avons entendu, afin de ne pas nous en éloigner.” Lire Hébreux 2:1. Regardez ce bien-aimé, rester alerte et accorder une attention stricte aux choses de Dieu, c’est ce qu’on disait aux frères Sardes. Écoutez cela, la vie arrive, et parce qu’elle arrive, la tendance à être lâche, d’où, l’Écriture dit: “Ne jamais être à la traîne dans la diligence; aglow dans l’Esprit, servant avec enthousiasme le Seigneur.” Lire Romains 12:11 (J.B.Phillips).
Écoutez ceci, un voleur viendra généralement sans préavis, par conséquent, nous planifions à l’avance et consultons les organisations de sécurité sur l’installation d’équipements de sécurité et de systèmes d’alarme, y compris l’obtention d’une assurance contre le vol; tout cela dans le but de protéger nos familles et nos effets personnels. Combien plus aimés, nous devrions être plus attentifs à la venue du Christ, d’où, la Bible dit: “Veillez sur votre cœur avec toute la diligence, car de là coulent les sources de la vie.” Lire Proverbes 4:23.

Les frères de Sardes dont les vêtements n’étaient pas souillés marcheraient dans une grande joie. Écoutez ce commentaire: “Il est bien connu que les robes blanches étaient portées à des occasions de grande joie, et parfois dans des processions triomphales.” En d’autres termes, la gloire de Dieu est au cœur de la persévérance.
“Car Dieu, qui a dit: “La lumière brillera des ténèbres,” est Celui qui a brillé dans nos cœurs pour donner à la Lumière la connaissance de la gloire de Dieu face au Christ.” Lire 2 Corinthien 4:6 (NASB). Mon Père céleste, à Ta gloire, à Ton honneur et à Ta louange.
