Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8 (AMP)
Now, we have been told by God’s word to “Be sober, vigilant.” Question then arises, why have we been instructed to align with 1 Peter 5:8? Because there is an adversary, and not just any type, but a formidable one, the devil and Satan. Beloved, what do you think is the sole purpose of the devil’s and Satan’s attack on both you and me? The Bible tells us:
Seeking someone to devour – Quite an interesting choice of words to use I will say, “Seeking someone.” In other words, all of us will be targeted, but not all will succumb under the pressure from without. Beloved, let me be clear, I am not being bashful or speaking from an accusatory point, a million times no. Please hear me beloved, we are all recipients of God’s grace. The Bible reminds us, “…We all stand by His grace.” Read Romans 5:2 (KJV).
Listen to the Parable of the Sower, “The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, straightway cometh Satan, and taketh away the word which hath been sown in them. And these in like manner are they that are sown upon the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with joy; and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble. And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they that have heard the word, and the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. And those are they that were sown upon the good ground; such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.” Read Mark 4:14-20 (ASV). I will encourage you to study the text to grasp what the Holy Spirit wants to show you.
Here is my point beloved, the one whose heart is prepared, who hears the word of God, embraces, and engages with it, is the one whom the devil and Satan cannot devour [think on these things]. In other words, the devil or Satan cannot take the word of God from just anybody [pause]. You will have to qualify for the word of God to be taken away from you. For example, “When tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble.” And if you are this person, then, the devil and Satan will seek you out.

Soyez sobre [bien équilibré et auto discipliné], soyez alerte et prudent en tout temps. Votre ennemi, le diable, rôde comme un lion rugissant [férocement affamé], cherchant quelqu’un à dévorer.

Maintenant, la parole de Dieu nous a dit: “Soyez sobres, vigilants.” La question se pose alors: pourquoi nous a-t-on demandé de nous aligner sur 1 Pierre 5:8? Parce qu’il y a un adversaire, et pas n’importe quel type, mais un adversaire redoutable, le diable et Satan. Bien-aimés, quel est, selon vous, le seul but de l’attaque du diable et de Satan contre vous et moi? La Bible nous dit:
Chercher quel qu’un à dévorer – Un choix de mots assez intéressant à utiliser, je dirai: “Chercher quelqu’un.” En d’autres termes, nous serons tous ciblés, mais tous ne succomberont pas sous la pression de l’extérieur. Bien-aimé, permettez-moi d’être clair, je ne suis pas timide ou ne parle pas d’un point accusateur, un million de fois non. S’il vous plaît, écoutez-moi bien-aimés, nous sommes tous bénéficiaires de la grâce de Dieu. La Bible nous rappelle: “… Nous nous tenons tous à sa grâce.” Lire Romains 5:2 (KJV).
Écoutez la parabole du semeur: “Le semeur sème la parole. Et ce sont eux qui sont à côté, là où la parole est semée; et quand ils l’ont entendu, viennent tout droit Satan, et emportent la parole qui a été semée en eux. Et ceux-ci de la même manière sont ceux qui sont semés sur les endroits rocheux, qui, quand ils ont entendu la parole, la reçoivent directement avec joie; et ils n’ont pas de racine en eux-mêmes, mais endurent pendant un certain temps; puis, quand la tribulation ou la persécution surgit à cause de la parole, ils trébuchent tout de suite. Et d’autres sont ceux qui sont semés parmi les épines; ce sont eux qui ont entendu la parole, et les soucis du monde, et la tromperie des richesses, et les convoitises d’autres choses qui entrent, étouffent la parole, et elle devient infructueuse. Et ce sont eux qui ont été semés sur le bon terrain; comme entendre la parole, et l’accepter, et porter du fruit, trente fois, et soixante fois, et cent fois. Lire Marc 4:14-20 (ASV). Je vous encouragerai à étudier le texte pour saisir ce que le Saint-Esprit veut vous montrer.
Voici mon point bien-aimé, celui dont le cœur est préparé, qui entend la parole de Dieu, l’embrasse et s’engage avec elle, est celui que le diable et Satan ne peuvent pas dévorer [pensez à ces choses]. En d’autres termes, le diable ou Satan ne peut pas prendre la parole de Dieu de n’importe qui [pause]. Vous devrez vous qualifier pour que la parole de Dieu vous soit enlevée. “Quand la tribulation ou la persécution survient à cause de la parole, ils trébuchent tout de suite.” Et si vous êtes cette personne, alors, le diable et Satan vous chercheront.
