Warning: Danger ahead – Part 1b

Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from Me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.

Ezekiel 3:17-19 (ESV)

“God’s grace is not infinite. God is infinite. And God is gracious. We experience the grace of an infinite God, but grace is not infinite. God sets limits to His patience and forbearance. He warns us, over and over again, that someday the axe will fall, and His judgment will be poured out” R. C. Sproul. I believe this is worth hearing over and again. A lot of us Christians have been deceived by the teachings and understanding of grace. Hence, you hear the over-elaborate use of the word ‘We are under grace.’ Listen here beloved, being under grace is not a licence to live in sin [pause and calmly think]. The Bible says, what shall we say then? “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Read Romans 6:1-2 (KJV).

At times the reason we ignore warnings is that we think we have time on our side and as a consequence, become indifferent, passive, and lackadaisical. Listen to what the Bible says, “Do not let your zeal subside; keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord.” Read Romans 12:11 (BSB). Watch this; there might be genuine reasons for busyness, work, family, business, ministry or pastoring etc. But the word of God counsels, ‘Don’t let your zeal subside.’ In other words, keep your relationship with God boiling hot. Remember what it was like when you were searching for a wife or a husband and found the one? Look at all the things you did to be with ‘the one.’ In like manner beloved, remember what it was like when you first received God’s invitation for Him to come into your life; you could not go a day without fellowshipping with Him. You yearned for Him, day, and night, and won’t hesitate to share your convictions and belief in Christ. Dear God, help us remember what it was like when we were first drawn to You by the power of the Holy Spirit in Christ name.

Pause! Let us take time out and pray to God based on the three (3) prayer points below.

1]. Pray that God will revitalise our spiritual walk with Him in Christ’s name. The Bible says, “Turn my eyes away from looking at what is worthless and revive me in Your ways” Read Psalm 119:37 (NASB).

2]. Pray that God will restore our passion for fellowship with His Word in Christ’s name. The Bible says, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people” Read Colossians 3:23 (ESV).

3]. Pray that God will deliver us from indifference in Christ’s name. The Bible says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth” Read Revelations 3:15-16 (NASB)

My dear Father in heaven, I humble myself before You today and ask You to have mercy on me. Your Word declares, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV). Thank You, Father, for the gift of Your extravagant grace and mercy in Christ’s name.

Avertissement : Danger à venir – Partie 1b

Fils de l’homme, je t’ai fait gardien de la maison d’Israël. Chaque fois que vous entendrez un mot de Ma bouche, vous leur donnerez un avertissement de Ma part. Si je dis aux méchants: “Tu mourras sûrement”, et que tu ne lui donnes aucun avertissement, ni ne parle pour avertir le méchant de sa voie méchante, afin de sauver sa vie, ce méchant mourra pour son iniquité, mais j’aurai besoin de son sang de ta main. Mais si vous avertissez le méchant, et qu’il ne se détourne pas de sa méchanceté, ou de sa voie méchante, il mourra pour son iniquité, mais vous aurez délivré votre âme.

“La grâce de Dieu n’est pas infinie. Dieu est infini. Et Dieu est miséricordieux.  Nous faisons l’expérience de la grâce d’un Dieu infini, mais la grâce n’est pas infinie.  Dieu fixe des limites à Sa patience et à Sa patience. Il nous avertit, encore et encore, qu’un jour la hache tombera,  et Son jugement sera déversé” R. C. Sproul. Je crois que cela vaut la peine d’être entendu encore et encore. Beaucoup d’entre nous, chrétiens, ont été trompés par les enseignements et la compréhension de la  grâce. Par conséquent, vous entendez l’utilisation trop élaborée du mot “Nous sommes sous la grâce.” Écoutez ici, bien-aimés, être sous la grâce n’est pas une licence pour vivre dans le péché [pause et réfléchir calmement]. La Bible dit: Que dirons-nous alors? “Allons-nous continuer dans le péché, afin que la grâce abonde? Dieu nous en préserve. Comment allons-nous, nous qui sommes morts au péché, y vivre plus longtemps?” Lire Romains 6:1-2 (LSG).

Parfois, la raison pour laquelle nous ignorons les avertissements est que nous pensons que nous avons le temps de notre côté et, par conséquent, devenons indifférents, passifs et indifférents. Écoutez ce que dit la Bible: “Ne laissez pas votre zèle s’apaiser;  gardez votre ferveur spirituelle, au service du Seigneur.” Lire Romains 12:11 (BSB). Regarde; Il peut y avoir de véritables raisons d’être occupé, de travailler, de famille, d’affaires, de ministère ou de pasteur, etc. Mais la parole de Dieu conseille: “Ne laissez pas votre zèle s’apaiser.” En d’autres termes, gardez votre relation avec Dieu en ébullition. Rappelez-vous comment c’était quand vous cherchiez une femme ou un mari et que vous trouviez celui-ci? Regardez les choses que vous avez faites pour être avec “l’unique.” De la même manière, souvenez-vous de ce que c’était quand vous avez reçu pour la première fois l’invitation de Dieu pour qu’Il vienne dans votre vie; vous ne pouviez pas passer une journée sans échanger avec Lui. Vous avez aspiré à Lui, jour et nuit, et vous n’hésiterez pas à partager vos convictions et votre croyance en Christ. Mon Dieu, aide-nous à nous souvenir de ce que c’était quand nous avons été attirés à Toi pour la première fois par la puissance du Saint-Esprit au nom du Christ.

Pause! Prenons le temps de prier Dieu en fonction des trois (3) points de prière ci-dessous.

1]. Priez que Dieu revitalise notre marche spirituelle avec Lui au nom du Christ. La Bible dit: “Détournez mes yeux de ce qui ne vaut rien et ranimez-moi dans vos voies” Lire Psaume 119:37 (NASB).

2]. Priez que Dieu rétablisse notre passion pour la communion avec Sa Parole au nom de Christ. La Bible dit: “Quoi que vous fassiez, faites votre travail de tout cœur, comme pour le Seigneur et non pour les gens” Lire Colossiens 3:23 (ESV).

3]. Priez que Dieu nous délivre de l’indifférence au nom de Christ. La Bible dit: “Je connais tes actes que tu n’es ni froid ni chau; J’aimerais que tu aies froid ou chaud. Donc, parce que vous êtes tiède et que vous n’avez ni chaud ni froid, Je vais vous vomir de Ma bouche” Lire Apocalypse 3:15-16 (NASB).

Mon cher Père céleste, je m’humilie devant Toi aujourd’hui et Je Te demande d’avoir pitié de moi. Votre Parole déclare: “Si mon peuple qui est appelé par mon nom s’humilie, prie et cherche ma face et se détourne de ses mauvaises voies, alors j’entendrai du ciel et je pardonnerai ses péchés et guérirai son pays” Lire 2 Chroniques 7:14 (ESV). Merci, Père, pour le don de Ta grâce et de Ta miséricorde extravagantes au nom du Christ.
