Facing all the facts, gaining perspective Part 3

The late Earl of Oxford and Asquith who once said “the greatest gift a man could have was the capacity for what he called ‘cubical’ thinking, the ability to see all sides of a subject.” Recall that famous line by Matthew Arnold “Who saw life steadily and saw it whole.” Recall the scripture admonishing us “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Read Proverbs 23:7. The way you think shapes and introduces your philosophy about life. Philosophy is the way you see things, the prism through which you view life, your philosophy determines your value system, and your value system determines your interactions with life, and your life determines where you ultimately end up.

“Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.” Read Psalm 73: 17. I want you to take a look at this beautiful word called understanding. Scriptures say “The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation). Read Proverbs 4:7 (amp). Facing all the facts with proper understanding sharpens and introduces a perspective that is wholesome and balanced based on Gods word.

Having the wrong perspective can lead to prejudice. Prejudice is “the power to pre-judge issues, shutting out all aspects of truth except one.” Would you want to know what the ‘except one’ is? Yes, please. It is yours (pause and calmly think). And the reason it is yours is because, you are not facing all the facts, you might have only taken one aspect and built on it without considering the bigger picture. And I believe one of the reasons people in general suffer needlessly is because of having the wrong perspective. Everyone thinks their perspective is the right one, therefore it is, hence it does not allow for humility of heart to hear or to consider another prism.

Facing all the facts, gaining perspective, where does perspective come from? Stay with me… and keep reading.
