Have you noticed that any engagement in the royal family is in honor of the Queen of England, Elizabeth. In like manner, whatever you and I do should be in honor of the King we serve. The Bible tells us about David’s mighty men, three in particular: Josheb Basshebeth the Tachemonite, Adino the Eznite and Eleazar the Ahohite. From the text, I believe these men were mentioned in history because they did something that stood them out from David’s other mighty men. They had traits that inspired and caught the attention of the writer to include them in the text. Beloved we are not ordinary people, but extra-ordinary people with Holy Ghost power to accomplish Gods purposes on this earth. 2 Samuel 23:9-12 tells us the extra-ordinary exploits of David’s elite mighty men; three in particular. Not forgetting there were others though.
- Adino the Eznite: he lifted up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
-
Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away: He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the Lord wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
-
Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the Lord wrought a great victory.
The story is told of George Washington Carver, Scientist, Inventor, Chemist, Botanist and a Believer in Jesus Christ (c.1864–1943), how he got his innovative inspiration from God after locking himself in his laboratory, and God began to give him ideas and innovations that astounded people of his time. The Bible calls it witty inventions. Carver achieved extra-ordinary innovations such that he was recorded to be the “Smartest black man of all time”; though looks to me he was exceptionally brilliant. He attributed his success to God revealing insights beyond measure into his human spirit. Literature record show hundreds of products Carver invented including more than 300 from peanuts (milk, plastics, paints, dyes, cosmetics, medicinal oils, soap, ink, wood stains) and 118 from sweet potatoes (molasses, postage stamp glue, flour, vinegar and synthetic rubber) and even a type of gasoline. Carver never allowed his background as a black slave deter him from honouring God with the gifts he was given.”
Watch this, Carver does not have the exclusivity right to extra-ordinary innovations; you and I can equally function and achieve heights in God never known in human history. I truly believe this, because my Bible says, “…God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him.” Read Acts 10:34 (KJV). I believe the Lord is waiting for us to arise into true sons and daughters in Christ Jesus. We have been created to do extra-ordinary exploits “In Honor to God.”
Beloved, men of honor are loyal to God, loyal to truth, loyal to their families, their leaders, pastors or whoever is placed as a shepherd over them, loyal to Gods people and loyal to His purpose.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
In Honor of the King is a powerful article Pastor Ricky. Awesome insight and truth. Gods blessings upon you and all that you do in His Name in Jesus Name.
