God’s Word Prevails – Part 4

fullsizeoutput_3bWe live in a world where we are presented with so many options and alternatives. For some intellectualism is what prevails, whilst for other, economic power is what prevails for them. The scripture counsels us against looking everywhere else except to the most High God. See what the Bible says, “I look up to the mountains does my strength come from mountainsNo, my strength comes from Godwho made heaven, and earth, and mountains.” Read Psalm 121:1-2 (MSG).

We have to awake to God’s truth and righteousness. The above text mentions the word “mountains,” and what comes to mind is the seven mountains of culture: Art and Entertainment, Business, Education, Family, Government, Media and Religion. It might be surprising for you to know that there is nowhere in the scriptures telling us to look at these mountains – shocker!!! The Bible does tell us to effect and impact the realms of our context, hence the Bible says, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven.” Read Matthew 5:16 (NIV). The Bible further says, “…Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” Read Isaiah 60:1-3 (NKJV).

Now there is nothing to say we should not invest in these entities, but our trust or reliance is not in these entities, but in God who has blessed us with wisdom and insight. Therefore, I pray for God to continually infuse us with creative ideas, witty inventions, wise strategies and the ability to make and distribute wealth for the Kingdom in Jesus Name.

As much as we engage in these spheres for most of our working life, it then becomes incumbent on you and me to shine forth God’s glory in all our dealings with people in our respective market places. Therefore, we need to look to the Lord and His Word, because we will only prevail in and when we engage the Word of God. As simple as it may sound, let us GET BACK TO BASICS.

Here is a question I like you to consider, in what areas does God’s Word prevail over? Let me give you a hint, God’s Word prevails over everything, all things and anything. Check out our next post.

We write. You read. Be encouraged.
