PURITY of the heart is an important component as it relates to the contents of your heart. The Bible says, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Read Psalm 51:7, 10. Watch this, PURITY is all about the heart, it is not in any way external. However, PURITY of heart will flow outwardly affecting our character. Listen to this, “Blessed are the PURE in heart, for they will see God.” Read Matthew 5:8 (NIV). This text also points to the fact that PURITY is a matter of the heart, hence this quote is appropriate, “This desire of heart PURITY is a creation of the Holy Spirit at work in the heart.” Duncan Campbell.
PURITY and HOLINESS are lifelong pursuits, hence the Bible counsels us to “examine ourselves” using the word of God as our mirror. The Bible says, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred and you together are that temple.” Read 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (NIV). There is no ambiguity with the text, therefore, as carriers of deity, our vessels must be HOLY and PURE.
When I was growing up and attending Church, one of the things I heard the most were about PURITY and HOLINESS, and I believe as the people of God, we must get back to basics of preaching from our pulpits the importance of PURITY and HOLINESS before God. The Bible says, “Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. You will reap exactly what you plant” Read Galatians 6:7 (ESV). So, my question to you is this, what are you sowing? Are you sowing to the flesh or to the spirit?
Listen to this, “God has guarded His Word so that only the PURE IN HEART can see its secrets. All other efforts will fail.” Winkie Pratney. There is no substitute for PURITY of heart, none, not even our sacrifices.
