REMEMBRANCE day celebration “marks the day World War One ended.” In other words, REMEMBERING was attributed to a pivotal event in the life of nations at war who were glad to see the end of all hostilities. With this in mind, think with me for a moment, every day ought to and should be a day of REMEMBRANCE for you and me because of a pivotal event that took place on this earth – the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (Pause and calmly think). This event meant the end to all hostilities between God and His creation, and this is the reason why you and I ought to REMEMBER the Lord our God, for it is all about HIM.
I am quite sure there is a reason why we are told to REMEMBER the Lord our God. Can you think of any? I believe it is critical for us to REMEMBER the Lord our God because everything you have become or achieved in this life is solely down to Christ. Ah! You might be saying, but Ricky, I worked so hard to get to this place or that place, I prayed and fasted for so many days; and whilst these are good things to do, always REMEMBER, “For it is God who works in you both to will and to act…” Read Philippians 2:13 (NIV). Can you see this now? It is not about performance-based Christianity, instead, it is acknowledging the hand of God at every turn.
Listen to this, “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” Read Romans 9:16 (KJV). Beloved, it has never been about you, but GOD, and when you grasp this concept, you will be quick to REMEMBER; that you are who and what you are because of the GRACE and MERCY of God. Pause for a moment! Father thank You, for causing me to REMEMBER Your goodness, mercy and favour.
I am reminded of this song, “When I think about the Lord, How He saved me, how He raised me, How He filled me with the Holy Ghost, How He healed me to the uttermost When I Think about the Lord, How He picked me up and turned me around, How He placed my feet on solid ground, Chrous* It makes me wanna shout, Hallelujah, Thank you JESUS, LORD, your worthy, of all the glory, and all the honor, And all the praise… (Repeat*). Watch this, REMEMBERING the Lord your God triggers PRAISE.
Here is this question again, what do you REMEMBER about the Lord? What does it trigger in you?
#REMEMBER the Lord your God.
