The Church must not get off message, and the Church must not preach another Gospel. or a pseudo-Jesus. The Apostle Paul writes, “For you seem to gladly tolerate anyone who comes to you preaching a pseudo-Jesus, not the Jesus we have preached. You have accepted a spirit and gospel that is false, rather than the Spirit and gospel you once embraced. How tolerant you have become of these imposters!” Read 2 Corinthians 11:4 (TPT). Here, we see Paul was warning the Church – the Bride of Christ to be careful and wary of anyone who will dare to preach a false Gospel.
“Anyone who comes to you with a different message than the grace gospel that you have received will have the curse of God come upon them! For even if we or an angel appeared before you, to give you a different gospel than what we have already proclaimed, God’s curse will be upon them. I will make it clear: Anyone, no matter who they are, that brings you a different gospel than the grace gospel that you have received, let them be condemned and cursed!” Read Galatians 1:8-9 (TPT).
This is a very strong warning from the Apostle Paul. When you read texts like this, it ought to force you and me to seek the true and real Jesus, remember, “God is no respecter of persons…” And God can’t be mocked, in other words, He won’t allow Himself to be made a fool of! Selah.
The Church must stay in the Book, be under the Word, preach the Word and be well informed. The Church will not be dictated to by the spirit of the age, absolutely not nor from the woke culture. The Church must always be counter-culture. The Church must have a Holy Ghost culture, burning with fire for God in its society and communities. Listen to this, when Jesus comes what will He find? The Bible says this, and He said to them, “My dwelling place will be known as a house of prayer, but you have made it into a hangout for thieves.” Read Matthew 21:13 (TPT).
Think with me for a moment, how will you feel when someone to whom you lease your property to turns it into something it was never designed for, without your permission or advice? I know how I will feel; upset and serve a section notice on the tenant to quit and hand my property back. See what Jesus said and did, “Don’t you dare make My Father’s house into a centre for merchandise!” That’s when His disciples remembered the Scripture: “I am consumed with a fiery passion to keep your house pure!” Read John 2:17 (TPT).
Question for us to consider, are we merchandising the Church? It is important we look within and respond because we are the Church. Listen to what Paul said, “That is why I must tell you solemnly today that my conscience is clear as far as any of you is concerned, for I have never shrunk from declaring to you the complete will of God…” Read Acts 20:27 (PHILLIPS). Can you see this? The complete will or counsel of God must be preached by the Church, and this is why I said, we are not called to be an accommodation centre.
Lord Jesus, thank You for the counsel of Your will for us as a Church is to mature into the things of God. Thank You for Your grace and power working in me to continually hunger and thirst after righteousness.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
Thank you to the Kolumns team for being a steady and consistent voice to us, and for that, we thank God for you and pray His grace continues to flow as you expand and share the Gospel of Christ.
Blessings
