They serve in a system of worship that is only a copy, a shadow of the real one in heaven. For when Moses was getting ready to build the Tabernacle, God gave Him this warning: “Be sure that you make everything according to the pattern I have shown you here on the mountain.” Read Hebrews 8:5 (NLT). Watch this, ‘the mountain’ can be your place of quiet where you retreat to away from the noise and quieten your spirit before the Lord, your mountain can be that place of prayer and supplication before the Lord, your mountain can be that place you go and seek the face of God. Now, reading the text, my attention was focused on the term ‘warning.’ This indicates to me that there are consequences for not building according to the pattern.
During the construction phase of any building, if the builder does not build according to the design drawn by the architect, the owner will request the specific area be demolished and re-worked. Evidently, there are cost implications, project timelines or milestones that will have to be adjusted and even in some cases termination of the builders’ contract. In like manner brothers and sisters, if we do not build according to God’s plan for our lives, families, businesses, and ministries, then the inevitable consequences will follow.
Paul’s exhortation, “Or, to put it another way, you are God’s house. Using the gift God gave me as a good architect, I designed blueprints; Apollos is putting up the walls. Let each carpenter who comes on the job take care to build on the foundation! Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ. Take particular care in picking out your building materials. Eventually, there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you’ll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous. You won’t get by with a thing. If your work passes inspection, fine; if it doesn’t, your part of the building will be torn out and started over. But you won’t be torn out; you’ll survive—but just barely.” Read 1 Corinthians 3:9-15 (MSG).
Beloved, God has a standard for your life, home, marriage, ministry, business and whatever else it is God has called you to do. Listen to this, “Success is first and foremost doing what God has asked us to do, doing it His way, and in His timing.” Pete Scazzero. In other words, our success is tied to you and me modeling our lives, including all that concerns us according to God’s master plan.
My Father in heaven, thank You for showing me the path of life. “And now He is our God-given wisdom, our virtue, our holiness, and our redemption.” Read 1 Corinthians 1:30 (TPT). Thank You, Father, for I have the wisdom of Christ to build according to Your plan and purpose for my life in Christ’s name.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
Lord, thank You for showing me the path of life, “for in Your presence is the fullness of joy, on Your right hand, are pleasures for evermore.”
