“God did not write a book and send it by messenger to be read at a distance by unaided minds. He spoke a Book and lives in His spoken words, constantly speaking His words and causing the power of them to persist across the years.” Aiden Wilson Tozer.
Priests have no exclusivity to the Book of the Law; I believe we are all required to find the Book of the Law. The Bible says, “The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion. And why? Because it’s not something concocted in the human heart. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God’s Word.” Read 2 Peter 1:21 (MSG).
Josiah, after hearing the Book of the Law being read to him purposed in his heart to begin the religious reform – getting people focused back on God. The Bible says, “The king took his place of authority beside the pillar and renewed the covenant in the Lord’s presence…and all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.” Read 2 Kings 23:3 (NIV). Josiah put action to his conviction! See what he did next, then the king instructed his high priest Hilkiah “remove from the Lord’s temple all the articles that were used to worship Baal, Asherah, and all the powers of the heavens.” Read 2 Kings 23:4 (NIV).
Ladies and gentlemen, it was time for Josiah to start cleaning the house. In like manner, are we ready to clean house in our lives? To clean a house thoroughly requires a lot of work, and can I say, it is not a one time process; quite frankly, it is a lifetime process of cleansing. Therefore, here is my question to you and me, are we ready to cleanse and purge ourselves from anything which has become an idol? If your response is YES, how then do I go about it? John 17:17 (AMP) tells us, “Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth.” Watch, truth is in the Book of the Law.
Jesus is the Word revealed to us in person. Therefore, if you do not have a relationship with Jesus or His Word; take this as an invitation and relinquish control of your life to the only one who knows you from birth.
My Father, thank You, I know that You are with me and for me, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
