“I sometimes think that the very essence of the whole Christian position and the secret of a successful spiritual life is just to realize two things… I must have complete, absolute confidence in God and no confidence in myself.“ Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
As I began to think about walking in step with God and His Word more than ever before, this Scripture came to mind, “You are to love the Lord Yahweh, your God, with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, with every thought that is within you, and with all your strength. This is the great and supreme commandment.” Read Mark 12:30 (TPT). Can you see this? Our entire being ought to be channelled towards pursuing and earnestly seeking after God.
I believe one of the greatest dangers facing Christians is the loss of momentum or zeal for the things of God. Listen to what Jesus says, “My love for You has My heart on fire! My passion consumes Me for Your house! Nothing will turn me away, even though I endure all the insults of those who insult You.” Read Psalms 69:9 (TPT). This is a powerful and sincere prayer from a Son to His Father.
I asked this question of myself earlier today, how does one maintain the momentum to stay energized through the year?
- Church attendance is a PRIORITY:
- “This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing. In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning.” Read Hebrews 10:25 9TPT). Recall the Bible says, “For wherever two or three come together in honour of My name, I am right there with them!” Read Matthew 18:20 (TPT). In other words, the church is not restricted to a building. Wherever God’s Word is being discussed may be in a casual setting amongst friends over a meal or coffee; church is taking place, and God’s presence abound.
- Listen to this, “Worshipers never leave church…we carry our sanctuary with us wherever we go.” Aiden Wilson Tozer. When I was going up as a young lad, I always thought fellowship could only happen when I entered the four walls of a ministry, but, that was highly inaccurate and flat out wrong.
- Now, when I say church attendance is a priority, I am not referring to Online attendance, I am actually referring to physically taking oneself to church; except for any medical condition, church attendance ought to be at the top of your list.
Beloved, let this be our daily prayer and reminder; “My love for You has My heart on fire! My passion consumes Me for Your house! Nothing will turn me away, even though I endure all the insults of those who insult You.” Read Psalms 69:9 (TPT). My Lord and Saviour, this is my prayer and commitment to You in Christ Name.
