Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

What do you give someone who owns everything? Before we answer the question, let us look at some foundational truth. The Scripture says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who live in it.” Read Psalm 24:1 (NASB). Listen to this, “For every animal of the forest is Mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird of the mountains, and everything that moves in the field is Mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and everything it contains.” Read Psalm 50:10-12 (NASB). To answer the question I asked at the beginning, the only thing you can give someone who owns the entire world is Worship [pause and calmly think].
What then is worship? It means to “prostrate in homage, offering reverence to God.” It could also mean, “lying at His mercy, supplicating.” Merriam-Websters definition of the word worship, “to honor or show reverence for as a divine being or supernatural power.” It is also uses the word “deification,” and this reminds me of Colossians 2:9, “For in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.” Beloved, this type of reverence can only be ascribed to the person of Christ.
We clearly see the apostle Paul, helping us to understand that when we embrace the preceding text, it is an act of our worship / service to God. And it is not meant to be something that we should struggle with because, God expects this to be our way of life. Listen to this, “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.” Read Matthew 4:10 (KJV). As documented in, the Westminster Catechism, “The first commandment requireth us to know and acknowledge God to be the only true God, and our God; and to worship and glorify Him accordingly.” Therefore, “All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify Your name.” Read Psalm 86:9 (ESV).
“The Christian is a man who can be certain about the ultimate even when he is most uncertain about the immediate. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Hence, “We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us.” Read 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV). Listen to this, “It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before Him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship Him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” Read John 4:24 (MSG).
Lord, open my heart to receive this truth in its entirety in Christ name.

Que donnez-vous à quelqu’un qui possède tout? Avant de répondre à la question, examinons une vérité fondamentale. L’Écriture dit: “La terre appartient au Seigneur, et à tout ce qu’elle contient, au monde et à ceux qui y vivent. Lire Psaume 24:1 (NASB). Écoutez ceci: “Car chaque animal de la forêt est à moi, le bétail sur mille collines. Je connais tous les oiseaux des montagnes, et tout ce qui bouge dans le champ est à moi. Si j’avais faim, je ne vous dirais pas que le monde est à moi, et tout ce qu’il contient. Lire le Psaume 50:10-12 (NASB). Pour répondre à la question, j’ai demandé au début, la seule chose que vous pouvez donner à quelqu’un qui possède le monde entier est l’adoration [pause et réflexion calme].
Qu’est-ce donc que l’adoration? Cela signifie “se prosterner en hommage, en offrant du respect à Dieu.” Cela pourrait aussi signifier: “L’homme à sa merci, suppliant.” Merriam-Websters définit le mot adoration, “honorer ou montrer du respect pour en tant qu’être divin ou pouvoir surnaturel.” C’est aussi nous le mot “déification,” et cela me rappelle Colossiens 2:9, “Car en Lui toute la plénitude de la divinité habite corporellement.” Bien-aimés, ce type de révérence ne peut être attribué qu’à la personne du Christ.
Nous voyons clairement l’apôtre Paul, nous aidant à comprendre que lorsque nous embrassons le texte précédent, c’est un acte de notre adoration / service à Dieu. Et ce n’est pas censé être quelque chose avec lequel nous devrions lutter parce que Dieu s’attend à ce que ce soit notre mode de vie. Écoutez ceci: “Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et Lui seul tu serviras. Lire Matthieu 4:10 (KJV). Comme le montre le Catéchisme de Westminster, “Le premier commandement exige que nous connaissions et reconnaissions Dieu comme étant le seul vrai Dieu, et notre Dieu; et de l’adorer et de le glorifier en conséquence. Par conséquent, “Toutes les nations que tu as créées viendront adorer devant toi, Seigneur, et glorifieront Ton nom.” Lire Psaume 86:9 (ESV).
Le chrétien est un homme qui peut être certain de l’ultime même lorsqu’il est in certain de l’immédiat. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Par conséquent, “Nous avons ce trésor dans des vases de terre, afin que l’excellence de la puissance soit de Dieu et non de nous.” Lire 2 Corinthiens 4:7 (KJV). Écoutez ceci: “C’est qui vous êtes et la façon dont vous vivez qui comptent devant Dieu. Votre adoration doit engager votre esprit dans la poursuite de la vérité. C’est le genre de personnes que le Père recherche: celles qui sont simplement et honnêtement elles-mêmes devant Lui dans leur adoration. Dieu est l’être pur lui-même – Esprit. Ceux qui L’adorent doivent le faire de leur être même, de leur esprit, de leur vrai moi, en adoration. Lire Jean 4:24 (MSG).
