Scripture tells us “…Jesus is the first amongst so many.” Romans 8:29. We are the so many, and this makes Jesus Christ our older brother. I recall growing up in the days, the younger always liked to follow after the older, in other words, the younger looked to the older as a model example. In the same manner, we the so many, look to the first, Jesus as our model example. 1 Peter 2:21 “For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps.”
When Jesus was driven into the wilderness by the Holy Ghost, scripture records that He spoke words; Gods Word in addressing the temptations thrown at Him by the devil. His voice had to be projected above all else. Gods Word folks has a voice, (pause and calmly think). This is what the scripture says “the angels hearken unto the voice of His Word.” Psalm 103:20. Likewise, my voice your voice in the wilderness ought to be projected, Gods Word is the only thing that will sustain one in the wilderness. It is recorded that the devil was also in the wilderness trying to derail and present shortcuts to Jesus’s path to glory. But Jesus knew better, because He had fortified His spirit with the word of God. Gods Word was projecting all around him. Read the temptation story of Jesus in the wilderness from the Gospels of Matthew Mark and Luke.
You cant have a bunker mentality in the midst of the wilderness. Like I alluded to in my previous post, the wilderness is not a place of punishment; no a million times no. Rather it ought to be a place where your VOICE, your STRENGTH and your JOY is projected. Why? “The Joy of the Lord is my strength.” Nehemiah 8:10.
When you come up out of the wilderness, people will notice the changed and refined person you have become, even more so, it would become evident that you are leaning on the beloved; God. Hence people would say “who is this?” I can’t seem to recognise this person. This person coming up out of the wilderness has been “metamorphosed” (undergoing a process of change into a full adult). This folks is Gods purpose for you, to be a full grown adult understanding and walking in His call and purpose for you.
