Enforcing your constitution – Part 1

Nations are governed by their constitution. The nations enforce the constitution through elected officials functioning in several arms of government, consequently leading to the establishment of law enforcement officers – the army, police and any other parastatal. A particular nation I am sure we all know about is quite vociferous with its constitution. This particular country cherishes the constitution such that everything the people and the government do is based on the constitution – It is the law by which they conduct the affairs of the nation and its people. Their constitution is so potent to the point that it protects its citizens abroad – this is something!

Thompson: 1996, ISBN 0-19-864226-1.  In the works of ancient Greek philosophers, the principal meaning of politeia appears to be: “how a polis is run; constitution.” In the New Testament, the term politeia is translated as “commonwealth or freedom.” Read Ephesians 2:12 (NLT).

For citizens of the earth, mans constitution governs their affairs, but for the believer in Christ, the Word of God is our constitution. Now, I am not saying we should disobey the laws of the land, on the contrary, and the Bible makes it clear when it says, “Submit yourselves to [the authority of] every human institution for the sake of the Lord [to honor His name], whether it is to a king as one in a position of power, or to governors as sent by Him to bring punishment to those who do wrong, and to praise and encourage those who do right.” Read 1 Peter 2:13-14 (AMP). So the law or constitution is a friend to the one who does what is right.

Like every elected government rigged or not; will enforce the laws of the land etched in the constitution. And in like manner you and I must enforce our constitution as stated in the Bible.
